A well-rounded individual is one who not only knows math and writing, but also has a comprehensive grasp of history, and no grasp of history can be complete without a study of the arts – music, drama, poetry and the graphic arts, particularly fine painting. The social impact of painters and their work is extremely important to an understanding of the events of the past 400 years – or the past 10,000, if one considers the cave paintings at Altamira!

Therefore, no child’s education can be considered complete without a study of the great paintings and painters of Europe and America. To help in accomplishing this end, Art Extension Press offers a line of Artext Prints, in two sizes, which provide a wonderful way to supplement your history, social studies, culture, design and language studies -- as well as pure art study, of course.

Artext Prints, averaging 7 x 9 to 8 x 10 inches in size, are printed in full color from plates made from the original paintings by color photography. The 100 subjects are available at $5 each, assorted as desired, and may be ordered by the stock numbers indicated on the AEP website. The prints are also available in sets as follows: Modern Art Subjects - 10 prints, $32.50 Primary, Intermediate, and Upper Level Subjects - 30 prints per level - $75 per set. The entire group of 100 prints - $180.

Artext Juniors, averaging 3 x 4 inches in size and in full color, are available in any quantity, assorted as desired. Price is 75¢ each for less than 100 and 70¢ for 100 or more, when ordered all at one time. Also available in sets as follows: Modern Art Subjects - 10 Juniors, $6.00. Primary, Intermediate, or Upper Level Subjects - 30 Juniors per level - $12 per set. The entire group of 100 Juniors - $30.

"Learning More About Pictures" offers a complete art program, with special emphasis on the requirements of elementary education. This 100-page book contains small illustrations to identify the one hundred pictures reproduced in prints, selected and graded for season and age level application. Each picture is described and interpreted in terms of teacher appreciation. The volume also includes biographical notes on the artists, valuable integration tables, glossary of art terms, and bibliography.

"Learning More About Pictures" is 6 x 9 inches, 100 pages with a stiff paper cover and is $21 per copy plus $9 S&H, available on the AEP website.

The Art Extension Press materials can be used for many, many years to provide in-depth information from the initial study with a young child to provide a general overview about art and possibly to instill a desire to try one’s hand at drawing and painting, and then to reinforce the knowledge of art history and its significance when the child reaches junior high or high school age.
