The Mid West Homeschool Convention

The Mid West Homeschool Convention is right around the corner. This year the event will be held from April 16-18th, 2009 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The convention was started by Brennan & Mary Jo Dean, because they strongly felt the need to promote homeschooling in their area. They have three children and have been homeschooling since 1998. The Deans launched the first convention in 2006 and it was a great success. Over the last two years, the convention has nearly tripled in size. This year’s conference is so large that they moved it to the newly redesigned Duke Energy Center in downtown Cincinnati.

The purpose of the convention is to “Honor the Lord and provide a forum of great speakers and exhibitors” in the homeschool arena. It is also a time for family to bond and learn together and children are always welcome. Homeschool conferences and conventions are massive undertakings, requiring a great deal of skill and sweat in planning and day-to-day execution during the actual show. The Deans are to be commended for presenting such a tremendous roster and their convention is worthy of support. The cost to attend the convention and hear the full bank of speakers is a fraction of what it would be to hear them individually.
