It used to be that parents would relish their baby’s attempt to crawl or mumble jibberish, but those developmental benchmarks seem to actually be limiting our children’s innate abilities and talents.

Nowadays, babies are not just saying “dada”, they’re actually…READING!

“From birth to 5 years of age a child's brain is developing at an extreme rate,” says Krista Guerrero, the creator of Monki See Monki Doo, a learning system designed to teach reading to babies and toddlers.

She adds, “A one year old can learn to read faster than a two year old. Parents should take advantage of this window of opportunity by exposing their children to language, whether written, foreign or sign.”

Guerrero developed her own special system and used it to teach the youngest two of her six children to read.  Her learning method includes an instructional DVD, flash cards and a book. To captivate her children’s attention, Guerrero created the cute and funny characters of Howie and Skip, Howler monkeys from the jungles of Belize.  Howie is Skip’s big brother, they enjoy learning to read and playing the Monki See Monki Doo game.

“All babies are born with an amazing capability to learn,” Guerrero says. “It’s important for parents to be aware of that so that they can stimulate their baby and take advantage of this wonderful window of opportunity.”

One of the motivating factors that made Guerrero carve precious time away from her family to create Monki See Monki Doo was the fact that she herself has seen firsthand the progress of her own children who have been exposed to reading as babies.  But when Guerrero first tried to teach her daughters to read, she found that it was very time consuming to develop the materials needed to implement this system. While her daughters did not grasp the concept of reading as babies, due to Guerrero’s hectic schedule, they did begin reading early on and are now very strong readers.

When her son was born, Guerrero vowed to teach him how to read regardless of her crazy calendar. Starting at the tender age of 2 1/2 months, she began to implement Monki See Monki Doo, a learning system that she adapted for her family. Guerrero and her son looked at books together and she even went as far as making a home video so they could review the words they had learned.

“He loved every minute of it,” says Guerrero. “He couldn’t get enough of playing this game with mommy.”

By the time Joshua was 12 months old, he was not only able to follow along fairly complicated sentences, but he actually was able to finish reading them. Guerrero will always treasure the day when she showed her son a piece of paper with the sentence “Joshua can put his arms up” and he actually followed along with his eyes and said the word “Up” even before she could finish the sentence.

Guerrero has seen her Monki See Monki Doo system work wonders for her children, they were early readers and continue to be quite prolific with the written word. Even today they remain advanced in their reading level. For this reason, she decided to make the products available to the mass market. The company is also developing additional DVDs and flash cards.

One of the best parts of the Monki See Monki Doo system, besides their affordability, is the one year money-back guarantee offered by the company. Guerrero is so confident that your baby will learn how to read that her company will even pay for the shipping should you wish to return the products.
