Dear Readers of The Way Home:
In this issue we bring you two diverse articles for your edification. First, Danica Davidson, a homeschooled adult, writes an eye-opening piece about her in-person discussion with Gibson Rowe, a precocious little homeschooled boy and his parents about his homeschooling experience. Secondly, we bring an article from J.D. Wilson about your children choosing to learn an Asian Language. With the increasing importance of China, Japan and Korea in the world marketplace, learning one or more of these languages can be a great benefit in the future. Thank you for reading our work and please patronize our advertisers.

Strengthening Family Relationships
by Bobbi DePorter, co-founder and president of SuperCamp
With springtime on the calendar (if not in the air), it’s a great time of year to think about what we can do to help our relationships with loved ones blossom.
If we’re not careful, it’s easy to get so caught up in our own busy lives that we forget to make time for the other members of our family.

The Joys of Child-Led Learning
by Danica Davidson
"You're not going to see armadillos during the day," Gibson Rowe told me shortly after his third birthday, "because they're nocturnal."
I looked at his mother, Tera. "Nocturnal," I repeated, impressed. "I've never heard someone his age say that."
It wouldn't be the last time Gibson would lispingly say a word most people don't know until they're older. He'll talk about Aurora Borealis, chrysalises, dinosaurs with polysyllabic names. He's not yet four and, thanks to his interest in learning about so many things, I think it's fair to say he knows more than most Elementary School students.

Which Asian Language Is Right for Your Child?
By J.D. Wilson
2011 is the best time in history to introduce your child to an Asian language. The combination of better, more powerful learning materials, college opportunities for students who've studied an Asian language, and myriad career paths for Asian-language speakers are keeping Asian-language instruction hot even as foreign language learning in general is in retreat.
But which to choose? What I'd like to do in this article is to review some of the benefits of teaching an Asian language and offer some insights about which may be right for your young, aspiring Asia-bound scholar, businessman, or diplomat.

Michigan Technological University Pre-College Outreach
When was the last time you had the opportunity to walk on water? Students attending the recent Einstein Project Science Expo in Green Bay, Wis., can tell you all about it; they spent the day dashing, running, and dancing across the surface of a non-Newtonian liquid called oobleck, a sticky white substance that will grab your feet and hold them fast if you dare to slow down.
