Dear Readers:
I was with a friend recently, whose daughter graduated from college last year. My friend shared with me that her daughter started her own business, developing websites. The business is very, very successful already, after only having been in business for eight months or so.
Over lunch we talked about how exciting it was that in this economic climate her daughter was having such success. My friend told me that when her daughter graduated she was a little worried at first that her daughter had NO job prospects after having spent nearly 5 years in school and nearly $40,000 on tuition. "Then something happened", she told me. I said, "What? What happened?" She said, "Homeschooling kicked in". I asked, "What do you mean?" She told me that her daughter reverted to her homeschooling lifestyle of completely using her own initiative. Everything she had learned as a homeschooler really is coming in handy now!! No one making you do anything; having to rely completely on your own ideas and your own get-up-and-go and your own connections!! At first, the girl was scared that she had nothing in the job world after all that money and time, and then she realized that everything good she learned in college -- discipline, consistency, various academic knowledge, mixed with some good old-fashioned homeschool entrepreneurial know-how was fabulous!! She became power charged!!! She realized that she had it all. She had everything she ever wanted as far as skills went -- inside and out! She was glad to be in a bad job climate so she was forced back to her old homeschooling ways and it was paying off in a big way! I was really glad to hear this story, especially in the economic climate that we are in. "Good for her", I thought. "Good for Homeschooling!"
Enjoy this issue of The Way Home.
Love, Mary.

Keyboard Town PALS™ Typing Program
By Michael Leppert
As computers replace or diminish virtually every form of written communication, typing is an absolute must for all children to learn as soon as possible. It only takes a few minutes of frustrating hunt-and-peck key-stroking for an untrained typist to realize the advantage that trained typists enjoy. Some writers can type almost as fast as they can mentally compose an article or blog and such speed gives a person a leg up in virtually any arena of study or business.

Better Way Imports - a Home-Based Business That Lifts Up the Downtrodden to Dignity
by Michael Leppert
Living in the United States and bandying about the term "American Dream" often makes the underlying truth of that phrase become watered-down and cliched. But the idea behind the American Dream, that anyone can change his/her circumstances by effort, ingenuity and right motivation, is a universal seed-concept within all people. The U.S. has provided the most fertile soil for this seed to flourish and grow since the 1700's, but other parts of the world have the same potential for street-level self-determination. A company with a biblical approach, called Better Way Imports, in Michigan, is nourishing and promoting just such growth in Calcutta, the Middle East and Thailand, some of the world's sore spots for human exploitation due to poverty and discrimination.
