Academic Success For All Learners

Academic Success For All Learners (ASFAL) is a family-run company with a focus on providing effective, easy-to-use, reading instruction that is affordable. The company has intentionally avoided developing the usual costly sales infrastructure associated with traditional curriculum publishers.

ASFAL is primarily known for the Reading For All Learners Little Books a highly regarded K-4 reading program used around the globe. Academic Success For All Learners also carries a line of other programs, including additional language arts materials, a math program and a behavior program.

Although a small, family-run company their service is fantastic. Most orders are shipped the same day they are received and the staff are always happy to answer questions and offer suggestions. Their website contains a number of free downloads including two complete programs and very complete program previews.

Reading For All Learners Little Books
The Reading for All Learners “Little Books” program is a sequence of 141 color coded books. There are 8 sets of books from Kindergarten to 3.6 reading level. Each set contains up to 27 books.

The Little Books were researched, revised and field tested to provide high success and fun learning experiences in beginning reading. The series directly correlates to core curriculum and mandates set by No Child Left Behind. Each book is built on the skills learned in previous books. For high success they should be taught in sequence.

The Little Books are used successfully around the globe in a variety of settings. Schools use them in small-group instruction and for individual needs. The instruction can come from teachers, parents, paraprofessionals, parent helpers, older peers, anyone! They are inexpensive, easy to use and the research is solid. They work!!

The sets are favorite materials for both parents and teachers because of their easy-to-use format, embedded instruction cues, and assessment tests, located throughout each set. The students enjoy the fun characters, group interaction, reward certificates, and coloring sheets.

Included with each order of the Little Books is an Instructor’s Manual and copies of progress tracking sheets and completion awards. There are also a lot of free resources that can be downloaded from the company website www.iseesam.com.

Phonemic Awareness For All Learners
This program was designed for anyone teaching reading. Many schools use it successfully as well as parents and tutors. Phonemic Awareness is a fundamental reading skill. Typically this program is used before beginning the Little Books program.

The Phonemic Awareness Program is intended to be used with preschool and kindergarten age learners.

This program supports systematic instruction in (a) visual discrimination, one-to-one correspondence, and required oral language prerequisites to phonemic awareness, (b) letter sound discrimination, (c) saying letter sounds, (d) blending letter sounds, (e) segmenting phonemes, (f) blending “real” and “nonsense” words, and (g) blending and reading from left to right.

The Phonemic Awareness Program is a complete instructional package which includes a sturdy, spiral-bound book. When open, the students and instructor sit opposite so the student sees the pictures and the instructor can read the scripted text (direct instruction model) for each lesson. Lessons are administered in small group settings or on an individual basis. Please visit the ASFAL website, www.iseesam.com for complete information.
